Definition
Not a garment order. We take a marker, lay the cloth, cut, mark the face and every balance point, and hand over panels ready for your line. The value is the face-consistent lay: on a two-colour cloth, a bad lay ruins a garment even when the sewing is perfect.
Buyers use this when the gambiered cloth is the scarce part and their own line has the capacity. It is also how a first style gets cut without anyone betting on fabric waste.
What we need in the file
A nested marker, seam allowance decided, and a note of which pieces may be broken across the width. Gambiered silk is narrow, and a marker built for 150 cm cloth will quietly waste metres here; we re-nest and send the revised layout for approval before cutting.
How waste is counted
Metres issued, not metres quoted. You are billed for cloth actually drawn from the lot, and offcuts above a usable size go back with the panels. Small gambiered pieces are worth keeping — they become swatches, not bin stock.
